love all
Stories about things I love from inside a tennis court.
The sun ain’t free
The aches and pains of 34 are a lot different from those of 21. At 21, I moved across the country to San Francisco and didn't think twice about whether I would like it or not. I would get five hours of sleep and bounce back the next day ten times stronger, almost immune to fatigue. A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I moved to Florida from New York City, and it was an emotional journey.
Breathe, Bounce, Believe
Breathe in and out, follow the rhythm of your natural breath to silence the mind. Connect with the moment, connect with God, connect with yourself. Bounce up and down, never stagnant, always moving, and anticipate the next ball through movement. Believe that you will win, no matter what.
How to take a tennis lesson
My advice for being a good tennis student is to be motivated to attend because you genuinely want to learn something specific. Have a purpose, communicate that purpose, and then listen.
Command the court
With a little minion racket in my hand, I learned to hit the most basic groundstrokes and serve. In a way, it was simple and nothing groundbreaking. Line up your racket with the ball and hit it over the net with an upward trajectory. The USTA calls it GPS.
How I started tennis
To me, vision is when you wake up in the morning before the alarm clock. It's a fire inside, a passion, a love for something that excites you to take on the day. Tennis has been a vision and a blessing for me.
The fiancee effect on tennis
I got engaged, and somehow, I’ve become a better tennis player. My last three matches have been blowouts, and my mind is free on the court. Maybe it’s because someone in the world has agreed to spend the rest of their life with me.
